Perfect Nude Lips

So you’ve seen countless personalities wearing the nude  lip, and while it looks fantastic on those people, whenever you’ve tried to duplicate the look, you wind up looking like Dave Chapelle’s Tyrone Biggums.

So, here’s how to achieve the perfect lips:

Things you’ll need:

  • Vaseline
  • Toothbrush
  • Moisturizing Lip Balm
  • Lip plumper
  • Nude lip pencil
  • concealer
  • Matte flesh tone lipstick
  • Tissue

Ideally, a nude lip is perfectly paired with a smokey eye, try it with rich neutrals for an exotic day look.

Nude lipsticks are  great because they easy, and very subtle, They look  amazing on all skin tones, and work year round, they give  you a polished look without excessive color. Plus, there’s nothing worse than walking around with obvious, heavy lip color in the middle of summer. Here are some of the best nude lipsticks around:

According to Mario of spoiledpretty.blogspot.com

When choosing nude shades for your lips, you should keep a couple things in mind: light pinks look better on fare skin because they will most likely have too much white in them for darker complexions. Peachy/beige nudes look great on medium to darker skin tones because of the yellow pigments in them.

If your lips are naturally red or dark, pat some foundation on your lips first to block out the color so that the true lipstick shade shows. My fave nudes are Honolulu Honey Lipstick by NARS and Josie Maran Plumping Lip Gloss in Optimism.

  1. Covergirl 24 Carat Q830
  2. MAC Blankety
  3. Smashbox Wicked Lovely Lip gloss Trio
  4. Maybelline Toffee Cream
  5. NARS duo Stolen Kisses/Pampa
  6. MAC Fresh Brewed

Creating the perfect nude lip is simple but requires a little attention to detail. You’d think otherwise since it’s not a bright color that could smear across your teeth or feather out past your lip line, but you do need to focus to get this look right!

  1. Exfoliate your lips so they are smooth.  When you are fresh out of the shower, gently rub your lips with your towel or use a lip exfoliator.
  2. Cover your lips with concealer or eyelid primer to neutralize your lip color and create a blank canvas for your work.  Smashbox has a great Lip & Lid Primer that cancels out the pink and helps makeup stay on longer.
  3. Apply a clear or skin toned lip pencil outside the lip line to prevent feathering.
  4. Apply lip gloss.

When taking the time to do your lips right the first time, you’ll save yourself having to reapply as frequently.  It’s the whole “haste makes waste” theory in action… Do it right from the start and a busy mom doesn’t have to be diligent about reapplying every time she gets out of the car!

If your skin is fair look for cool nudes in peach tones. Try pinker shades with a beige base for olive skin tones.
